Who is this for?

Ideal candidates would be passionate about sports and physical fitness. They should have a strong interest in learning about the theories behind sport and physical activity, and how to design and implement effective training programs. They should also be able to communicate well with others and enjoy working as part of a team. In addition, they should be motivated, hardworking, and willing to put in the time and effort required to succeed in their Apprenticeship. Finally, they should have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn from their mistakes, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Typical job settings, employers or roles include:

  • Physical Education within various settings including Colleges, Schools and Nurseries
  • Roles within leisure or sports organisations and charities
  • Active partnerships, youth work, youth justice, or public health organisations.

Why this programme?

You will play an important role in improving the health and wellbeing of the nation and provide a positive environment which supports people to grow and develop through sport and physical activity. You will be able to promote, deliver, coach and report on fun, inclusive and engaging activities that help whole communities to change their behaviour, overcome barriers, adopt and keep to a physically active lifestyle.

On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, you will be eligible to become an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

Typically, achievers will progress onto the Sports Coach Level 4 Apprenticeship and progress within their place of employment.

How is the programme delivered?

This programme is delivered in 16 modules.

Each module will have a varied approach to learning including, self-study, group teaching sessions and one-to-one tutorials. A key benefit of this programme is the guest speakers who deliver on selected modules, where you will learn from the real-life experiences of practising professionals.

What is the commitment?

You will commit to the 13-month duration of the programme, including completion and attendance of all education sessions and activities included within your individualised Training Plan. In addition to the Training Plan, where required you may need to complete or attend the additional learning support, which we mutually agree is beneficial to unlock your full potential. Finally, preparation for and completion of the End-Point Assessment.

What does it cost?

The employer will fund the qualification through its apprenticeship levy or a £450 contribution. You, as the learner, will make no financial contribution.
